I'm doubling up on days three and four because some crazy things happened to make these two days into one very long day for me.
Day 3
Today I'm thankful for the craft and creativity of music. Just think, artists give their lives up to their music so we can be entertained and they can create something beautiful. Many musicians lead very busy lives with long filled hours and receive little to no payment just to follow their passion. It's really inspiring when you think about it.
Last night I had the pleasure of seeing Kris Hitchcock and Small Town Son perform once again. They are amazing at what they do, and Kris is an amazing songwriter. If you haven't had a chance to check them out, I'd highly recommend them.
Day 4
While I was enjoying the final few minutes of an impromptu jam session by Kris Hitchcock and Small Town Son, I got a phone call from an expecting mother regarding my work with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. I had been expecting this call all weekend. Usually my calls are not expected, but this mother had contacting me last month seeking our services.
So I hit the road to drive an hour to Kalamazoo to capture her little angel. It was about 2:30 am by the time I started out. (However it felt like 3:30 because of the time change.) I went straight from the concert and was trying really hard to stay awake on the road. When I got to the hospital, she had not yet delivered. I knew I was in for a wait, and I was so exhausted. The nurses were wonderful and put me in an empty room with a pillow and blankets so I could grab a snooze while I waited.
Today, I am VERY thankful for nurses. They are some of the hardest working people I know. With my work with NILMDTS, I get to meet a lot of them. (I have quite a few in my family as well.) They work very long hours and have to deal with some hard situations sometimes. Without the care of the nurses putting me in that room last night, I don't know what I would've done. If you know a nurse, make sure to give them an extra hug. They deserve so much more.
This post is part of a 30-day challenge. You can read about how it started in this post.
