Steve + Katie : 5.26.2012 Riviera Maya, Mexico

Steve and Katie are very dear friends of mine who got married this past weekend at El Dorado Royale Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Their wedding was the peak of a week of fun with friends and family. What a great place for a wedding! Such a beautiful location, and the guests were very well cared for. Everyone had a blast! Here are a "few" of my favorites from their beautiful wedding day!

She had a gorgeous drop-waist ball gown!

Of course Steve got a black eye the day before the wedding in a raucous round of pool volleyball.
I couldn't get too mad at him though, his smile is contagious! A little makeup and you couldn't
hardly tell.

They had a burro surprise at their cocktail hour on the beach! Katie was a good sport and climbed on. Then the guests enjoyed burro-delivered cervezas.

Thank you so very, very much Steve and Katie for including me in your destination wedding! I'm very touched that you chose me to capture such a fun week with your loved ones. We had such a great time and will remember it forever.

Jamie and Lucy were married this past weekend at Weko Beach House in Bridgman, Michigan. Currently living in Chicago, they chose the shores of Lake Michigan because it was more their style. Shergo and Debbi's gorgeous lake-side wedding is featured today on The Thirty-Something Bride. I love the history of this blog. It's not about featuring a particular age group of bride, but was an outlet for the author who was a thirty-something bride. She thought that her age would make planning a wedding a different experience than younger brides. Some very good friends of mine just gave birth to their first baby. It's a girl! She has the sweetest name of Mae Nicole. I got to meet the little one this last weekend and capture a few newborn portraits of her. She was very sweet and pretty inquisitive of the goings on. Congratulations, Christine and Troy!

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and let's face it, our society pressures us into cards, flowers, candy, and sappy teddy bears. I personally love the fact that Valentine's is just one more day you get to say "I love you" and show your special someone how much you care. A year ago, we made the trip across the pond to Scotland for Brandon and Nicole's wedding. I had an amazing time and I was thrilled when she wanted to do a fall anniversary session. We traveled to their hometown of Grass Lake, Michigan for a country inspired photo shoot. We were surrounded by natural beauty and so much inspiration. Here are some of my favorites from that day:

I love this one. I feel like it embodies Grass Lake.

During sunset, we headed the campfire to capture some warm fall images.

This is Nicole's dads dog, Marley. I love how this photo looks like a family portrait
you would see hanging in a log cabin or lodge.

This last weekend was a marathon photography weekend in Grass Lake, Michigan. The groom from last year's Scotland wedding happens to have a younger brother, Wesley, who is a Senior this year at Grass Lake Highschool. I was able to get some fun fall photos with him and his family.

I got the opportunity to photograph the Mills family this last weekend in Mishawaka, Indiana. Laurie had seen Nathan Barbott's senior portrait session that I photographed last year and knew that when it was Nick's turn, that we would be a good fit. We had a lot of fun at the Japanese gardens. We did some family photos and then I spent time with Nick for his senior portraits. What a great day for it!

His sister, Katie is so pretty! I hope she calls me when she's a senior.

Shaun is a Senior at Saint Joseph High School. He enjoys playing WWII games and has an interest in insects. Like any teenage boy, he was very camera shy at first. But after a while he started to relax and we got some great photographs in a beautiful park in Saint Joseph, MI. The weather was amazing for October, and the leaves were just starting to turn. A perfect day in the park!

This past weekend I traveled up to Mount Pleasant, MI to do an engagement session for Josh and Lisa. The weather was gorgeous and we got a lot of fun shots. Josh and Lisa were engaged in an antique pink Mustang. (I know, right?) So of course we had to get pictures with the car where the journey started. But before that, we started out the session by taking pictures in the lab where they met on CMU's campus!

While we were strolling through the park, we saw a woodchuck. I had to grab a quick shot. He didn't seem to mind us, but was not amused when I asked him how much wood he could chuck.

Here's their adorable dog, Cole. What a good puppy!

And then to the beautiful 'Stang!

He told her that they were going to look at a pink Mustang because he wanted to buy it. She thought this was quite rediculous, but went along with it. Luckily she did, because while they were in the front seat, he popped the question!

Congratulations Josh and Lisa! Can't wait for your wedding next September!

I absolutely love cinemagraphs. They are so much fun to create. I tried some very bold and new concepts for Steve and Katie's cinemagraphs. While my intentions were good, this meant a lot of headaches on the back end. I am still learning this process and can't wait to take it to new heights. Steve and Katie are really good friends of mine and I was SO excited when Steve popped the question in May. These two are so fun-loving! We had so much fun walking around Saint Joseph, Michigan, where Steve and Katie currently live. Here are a few of my favorites from their engagement session.

She has amazing blue eyes.

Steve has a contagious smile. I couldn't help but smile when I was going through their photographs.

We had some fun on the swings.

They are gorgeous in color, but they are so beautiful in black and white.

We also had some fun with the setting sun.
